For 20 years DRA has been investigating local textile and clothing industries for Governments and Development Agencies in developed countries. These industries have historically generated high levels of both employment and added value but are generally now in decline.
"What can be done about it?" is the question. We increasingly use the cluster analysis methods proposed by Michael Porter in "The Competitive Advantage of Nations" to answer it; this is rapidly becoming the world's standard approach.
We make recommendations for strengthening both the cluster as a whole and the companies within it.
